Juliet would't have had to take such drastic actions if she just spoke to her parents. If she told her parents she had feelings for Romeo and did not want to marry Paris, chances are Juliet would still be alive, she might have been on the streets but she would be alive and with Romeo. Seeing as Juliet did not talk to her parents about this whole ordeal they were going to continue doing what they thought was best for her. Letting Paris marry her would have been a good move for Juliet and the Capulets and as Juliet did not say she didn't want to get married to him they proceeded with their own plans.
Instead of sneaking behind her parents backs and getting the sleeping potion from friar Lawrence could have made it so much easier for everyone, there wouldn't have been a massive communication problem and Juliet could have just spent the rest of her life with Romeo.
Maybe if Juliet just told her parents straight up that she loved Romeo, he parents would have understood and allowed it, putting aside their rivalry and and just let them be happy, instead of what Juliet's father suggested which was to throw Juliet out on the street.A bit of communication and understanding of what everyone was going through could have saved their lives.
