Homework.

Juliet would not have been forced to take such drastic action if she simply communicated with her family. Ultimately, Juliet, her mother and her father needed to sit down and have a nice long talk

Juliet would't have had to take such drastic actions if she just spoke to her parents. If she told her parents she had feelings for Romeo and did not want to marry Paris, chances are Juliet would still be alive, she might have been on the streets but she would be alive and with Romeo. Seeing as Juliet did not talk to her parents about this whole ordeal they were going to continue doing what they thought was best for her. Letting Paris marry her would have been a good move for Juliet and the Capulets and as Juliet did not say she didn't want to get married to him they proceeded with their own plans.
Instead of sneaking behind her parents backs and getting the sleeping potion from friar Lawrence could have made it so much easier for everyone, there wouldn't have been a massive communication problem and Juliet could have just spent the rest of her life with Romeo.
Maybe if Juliet just told her parents straight up that she loved Romeo, he parents would have understood and allowed it, putting aside their rivalry and and just let them be happy, instead of what Juliet's father suggested which was to throw Juliet out on the street.A bit of communication and understanding of what everyone was going through could have saved their lives.

The sun, the moon, the stars..

Imagery helps the audience feel and imagine what is going on the the text. Throughout the play, there are references to the sky. The main idea of Romeo and Juliet being 'star-crossed' lovers means that they were brought together by the stars, in other words their star signs mean't that they would be a match.
At the beginning of the play, Romeo is deeply depressed because of Rosaline, and he is found wandering the night by himself. He is introduced into the play as a dark person. This all changed when he meets "Juliet..the sun" ( scene 2 acts 2). Juliet brings him out of the dark and into the light, she is his reason to be happy. He also says that "O! she doth teach the torches to burn bright" (act 1 scene 5), Juliet has taught him that the world is not a dark place and the only way he will move on from such a state of depression.
The references to the sky show the audience that Romeo is a very spiritual being and he is deeply influenced by his heart. His feelings take over the logic of the whole idea, in this case, she doesn't seem to think of what would happen if he marries a girl that he just met the day before. The sun burns bright like Romeos passion, and relating the couple to the sky was a very good way that Shakespeare engages the reader.
"The brightness of her cheek would shame those stars, as daylight doth a lamp; her eyes in heaven”(II, ii, 19-20) Romeo means that the brightness of her cheeks would outshine the stars the way the sun outshines a lamp. If her eyes were in the night sky, they would shine so brightly through space that birds would start singing, thinking her light was the light of day.
Romeo places juliet on such a high pedestal, and relates her to the sky yet again, this time saying that her beauty is greater than that of the sky. She illuminates the dark and everyone and everything around her is affected.

Respect your elders !

As Romeo and Juliet progresses, the audience is positioned to see that in the Capulet household respect for the family elders is paramount.

A few examples of where the respect of elders in the Capulet house become paramount is where Juliet makes up her own mind about marriage and who she wants to be with. Mr and Mrs Capulet have already chosen Paris as a suitable husband and as soon as they think Juliet is ready to wed it will be to him. Although, Juliet goes behind her parents back with the help of the Nurse and marries Romeo instead. Another example would be when Romeo and his friends arrive at the Capulet party, Thybalt immediately wants to fight them as they are Montagues and when Mr Capulet tells him to leave it he does not listen. Questioning his authority and lack of respect shows that the Capulet household does not position their elders word above their own thoughts and beliefs.

Romeo is an impulsive character and his actions are influenced by his emotions.

Romeo Montague is a character whose emotions greatly influence the way he acts and talks. He is either deeply depressed or love struck. His emotions are often impulsive and the reason he feels the way he does isn't justified. For example the very sight of Juliet pulled him out of his deep depression and into a strong feeling of love. The girl he has just met has now become the reason he was put on the Earth and he does not hesitate to propose and get married. It is very clear that Romeo is impatient when it seems he knows how he feels about somebody, and without much though he lets his emotions control him. Taking it slow isn't something that this couple is good at.

Character Profiles

Romeo: A Montague. He meets the daughter of his family's enemy and falls madly in love with her, forgetting his previous love for a girl named Rosaline. He is quick to action and slow to reasoning, which may seal his fate. He marries Juliet but is provoked into a fight and kills her cousin Tybalt. He is exiled to Mantua. He kills himself in Juliet's tomb when he believes her to be dead.

Juliet: A Capulet. She finds strength in her love for Romeo and hatches a plan with the Friar to help her escape her planned marriage to Paris for the arms of her husband, Romeo. When she awakens from her induced sleep, she finds Romeo dead in her family vault. She refuses to be parted from her lover and stabs herself with his dagger. Her death is the last installment in the tragic penalty paid for the inability of the Capulets and Montagues to live in peace.

Tybalt: Cousin to Juliet. He is referred to as the Prince of Cats as he is a skillful fencer and kills all the mice he encounters. Tybalt is unwilling to tolerate Romeo's presence at the Capulet party and seeks revenge. When he finally meets Romeo in the street, Romeo refuses to fight. Tybalt does not know Romeo is now his kinsman. Tybalt instead fights Mercutio and takes a cheap shot under Romeo's arm when he tries to break up the fight. Romeo finally fights Tybalt to avenge Mercutio. Tybalt is killed by Romeo, which causes Romeo's banishment.

Homework task

Dear Diary,
I'm don't know what to do. My parents want me to break up with my boyfriend even though I know he is the one. I've never felt this way about anyone before and because my parents don't know anything about him or what he has been through they are threatening to disown me for liking him. I bet they never had anyone doing this to them when my parents started dating, they know im smart enough to make up my own mind and make the right decision. He is this nicest boy I have ever met and he treats me like a princess, I hardly see what is wrong with that.
