Show Don’t Tell

1: The hero was strong and handsome. He was admired by the townspeople. He was brave and wished to help other people in need.
Winchester was as strong as the Greek Gods and twice as handsome. Everywhere he went he could feel the men’s jealous eyes stabbing at hi, while the women swooned at his charms. Nothing could scare him and he longed for the taste of danger. Protecting his town was not only his job but his passion.
2: The wizard was ugly and evil. The people of the town were terrified of him. He enjoyed threatening them, especially the children. He was cruel and greedy.
Up in his castle, he could watch the people in town hide. They truly were terrified of the wizard and this pleased him. The wizard enjoyed threatening and scaring the people in the town, especially the helpless children. He considered himself as a superior above them all and forced them to cure his greed with their belongings in exchange for his protection; after all, with one simple flick of his wand he could destroy the entire town.
3: The Knight was arrogant and greedy. He did not want to help others. He only wanted to be viewed as the most handsome and talented warrior in the land.

Although the knight fulfilled his duties as a brave and ruthless warrior, it was always against his will. This knight did not enjoy his job and he never did it for the respect for his town. This knight was a greedy as a pig and twice as arrogant. His good looks were the only thing going for him and it was the only thing he was concerned about.

4:The peasants were kind and helpful. They were hard working and honest people. They were scared to drawing the attention of the wizard.

Down in the city the peasants could feel the evil wizard staring down upon them. Their hard work and kindness did not please him and in no way did the wizard respect them. They prided themselves on their honesty and were helpful to others even though it was them that needed the most help.

5:The land was beautiful, but harsh. The town was safe from the elements, but outside could be dangerous if one did not take precautions.

Away from the dangerous outside world, the city was full of protection. The landscape was safe from the elements and one could find its natural beauty soothing and peaceful. Although the land could be harsh it was home and that was the most important thing.
